What do I need to service the XY axis wheels and pinions?

< Previous | List |

Cleaning pinions

Before cleaning the Z Head or Lower X Beam pinions, inspect the wheels for any damage such as splitting or any large marks or dents. If you have any broken wheels then you may need to replace them using the Wheel Replacement Kit.

You don’t need to replace the pinions - these will just need cleaning, along with the racks and wheel tracks. Click here for racks and wheel tracks cleaning.

Clean both side pinions with a toothbrush or a paper towel and pay special attention to swarf sticking into the teeths of the pinions. If there are stubborn deposits of grease or swarf on the pinions then you can use something like IPA.

Be careful not to get any IPA on the wheels or any acrylic plates on the machine as this can damage them and cause cracks.

A: Lower X Beam pinion (clean both sides)

B: Z Head pinion (clean both sides)

Where can I get a wheel replacement kit?

Email our sales team at sales@yetitool.com and ask for a wheel replacement kit.

One wheel replacement kit has enough parts to replace the wheels on one axis.

If you need to replace the wheels on both X and Y axes at the same time, you will need two kits.

Both axes use the same type of wheels.

What’s in the maintenance kit?

The wheel replacement kit includes all of the necessary components needed for maintenance, here is an example of a Y axis wheel replacement kit.

C: Initial wheel position reference card

D: Wheel tyre

E: Dome flange torx screws

F: Bearing adjuster metal

G: Loctite

H: Wheel adjustment spanner
