Fretwork panel with SmartBench

The fretwork design is made from a 2D image of the cellular structure of a leaf, put through a vector programme (Ed promises that he’ll show us how, one day).

We used pocket cuts (which remove all of the material) rather than a contour cut. This saves us from needing to use tabs to hold any of the loose material in place, and makes finishing much easier!

Lizzie, YetiTool, and SmartBench have come a long way since this video! This video features POC1 SmartBench in the inventor’s garage, so please forgive it (and the garage) for looking a bit rough around the edges.

We also have a lot more tutorials on these articles
